Fecundity Patches

In our uncertain times, I find comfort orchestrating these little patches of real estate. These little plots of fecundity spring from my imagination as well as my observations of the natural world. I think about the growth patterns of plants and sea-llfe, how they angle for the sun and other resources and how they each have mechanisms to reproduce.  I try to capture both the order and the chaos of nature. The history of the materials I have chosen also informs my work with these pieces. By repurposing antique quilts and other handmade textiles and using discarded fish scales and pistachio shells, I create a new reality for these items.   In this reality, nature and humanity share the same piece of ground in complicated ways.
